Uber, Bolt, taxi, metro or your own car: where each one drops you off and picks you up at Lisbon Airport, what runs at night and when parking pays off.

There are four ways to get to Lisbon Airport for a flight: being driven, by ride-hailing, taxi or a friend; taking the metro or the bus; driving and leaving the car at an airport car park; or driving and leaving it at a private car park with transfer or valet.

None of them is best for everyone. What decides it is the time of your flight, your luggage, how many of you are travelling and how many days you will be away. This guide compares the four and tells you where each one drops you off and picks you up. We do not publish the prices of other services, because they change: we tell you where to see them.

Ride-hailing (Uber, Bolt) and taxi

They run at any hour and drop you off by Departures. Ride-hailing passengers are dropped at the Drop Off 1 or Drop Off 2 car parks, next to the Departures area; taxis are usually lined up at the terminals, at Departures and Arrivals.

On the way back, Uber and Bolt pick-ups are in car park P2, level 2, on the Arrivals level. The airport itself reminds passengers that taxis and ride-hailing are hired at the proper place or through the app, never from someone who approaches you inside the terminal offering a ride.

The price is whatever the app or the meter shows at that moment. Check the estimate before you decide, and count on two trips: there and back.

Metro and bus

There is a metro station at the airport, in the Arrivals area, connecting to the city centre and the other lines. The metro runs from 6:30 am to 1 am every day, and the airport itself describes it as a quick and inexpensive way to get into the city.

City and intercity buses stop near Arrivals. City buses only take luggage up to 50 x 40 x 20 cm, which rules out most checked suitcases.

If you travel light and at normal hours, it is hard to beat. For an early flight, the first metro arrives too late: the early-flight guide explains the alternatives.

By car, at an airport car park

The airport has its own car parks next to the terminals, some meant for short stays and others for several days. The prices are in the official tariff on the airport's website, and online bookings must be made at least six hours in advance.

What each car park offers, and who it suits, is in the guide to car parks P1, P2, P3 and P6.

By car, at a private car park with transfer or valet

This is the option for people who want to go in their own car, at the time they need, and know the total before leaving home. At Check-in Park there are three ways to do it.

Parking with Transfer: you leave the car at the car park and our van takes you to Terminal 1 or Terminal 2; on your return, we collect you at Terminal 1 Arrivals.

Parking with Valet: you hand the car over at the terminal itself to one of our staff and get it back at Terminal 1 when you return.

Parking Only: you leave the car and sort out your own trip, for example by ride-hailing from our waiting room.

Parking a car costs 6 € per 24 hours, with a 20 € minimum per booking, and from 20 to 30 days it is the monthly rate, 120 €. With transfer or valet a small amount is added per booking, for the return trip, not per person: the amounts are in the price table. The car park and the van run 24 hours a day, and you only pay on your return.

How to choose

Short trip, little luggage and a midday flight: the metro does the job.

Early-morning flight: the metro is closed. That leaves ride-hailing, a taxi or your car at a car park that runs 24 hours.

Family or group with suitcases: the car saves you two ride-hailing trips. Our van takes up to 8 passengers plus the driver, and there are child seats, at no cost, if you ask for them when booking.

Several days away: compare the car park total for your dates with the cost of two trips, there and back.
