Lisbon Airport Car Parks: P1, P2, P3 and P6 Explained
Lisbon Airport has its own car parks, run by ANA, and they are the only ones inside the airport. They are named P plus a number, and each one serves a different purpose: some are meant for a few hours, others for people leaving the car for several days.
This guide explains what each one is for, what happened to P5, how Kiss & Fly works and when a private car park is worth a look. We do not publish the airport's prices: they change and we cannot guarantee them. They are in the official tariff, on the Lisbon Airport website.
P1 and P2: for short stays
These are the airport's most expensive car parks and they mainly serve short stays: picking someone up, a meeting, a day trip. When booking online they appear as Premium, at P1, and Executive, at P2. P2 also has its own rate for people picking up passengers at Arrivals.
For several days they are rarely the best choice, because their daily rate is the highest at the airport. The airport also runs its own valet, Valet Xpress, available at P1, P2 and P3.
P3 and P6: the budget options for several days
These are the airport car parks for people leaving the car for days or weeks. Online there are four products: Low Cost and Low Cost Plus, at P3, and Classic and Classic Plus, at P6. Low Cost has a limited number of bookings.
On days of major events the airport adds a surcharge to the daily rate. If you are travelling on one of those dates, allow for it when you compare.
What about P5?
Many people still search for P5. In the current tariff, P5 is not among the options for the public: it only appears among the season tickets, the monthly or yearly subscriptions. To park for several days at the airport, today's options are P3 and P6.
Booking the airport car parks online
The airport recommends booking online for the best rates and a guaranteed space. Two rules are worth knowing: the booking has to be made at least six hours in advance, and an online booking always charges at least one day.
If you turn up without a booking, you pay the walk-in rate, counted in 15-minute units up to a daily maximum, and that maximum is higher than the online one.
Kiss & Fly: for dropping someone off at Departures
Kiss & Fly is the quick-stop area on the Departures kerb. It is free for up to ten minutes, as long as the driver stays in the car, and only for the first two stops in each 24-hour period. After the ten minutes the stop becomes paid, and the amount climbs quickly.
Entry now works by automatic number-plate recognition, with no ticket. To say goodbye calmly or to wait for someone, the airport itself advises using the car parks rather than Kiss & Fly, to avoid fines.
When a private car park makes sense
For a few hours, or to pick someone up, the airport car park is the simplest route. For a trip of several days the maths changes, and some of the differences are not about price.
At a private car park with transfer, you leave the car and are taken to the terminal door; with valet, you hand the car over at the terminal itself.
