Is there free parking at Lisbon Airport?
The short answer is no. Lisbon Airport's car parks are all paid, and there is nowhere at the airport to leave your car for free while you travel.
There are, even so, a few things that cost nothing, and ways to pay little. This guide separates one from the other, without promises that fall apart on the day you travel.
What really is free
Kiss & Fly at Departures: up to ten minutes without paying, for the first two entries in each 24-hour period, as long as the driver stays in the car. It is for dropping someone off, not for parking.
The airport's own shuttle between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, which costs nothing.
And getting a lift, which costs no parking but costs whoever drives two round trips.
What about leaving the car on the street?
Some people look for a street near the airport to leave the car for free while they are away. The area around the airport is mostly residential, and a car left on the street for days has nobody keeping an eye on it.
A badly parked car can be fined or towed, and you only find out when you get back, suitcase in hand. For a trip of several days, it can end up costing more than a car park.
«Free shuttle»: always look at the total
Anyone looking for parking near the airport will often come across the promise of a «free shuttle». It is worth looking at the total for your dates, with transport included, and asking whether transport is charged per person or per booking.
At Check-in Park we do not say the transfer is free, because it is not: it adds 5 € per booking, with the outward and return trips included, however many people there are. If you do not need transport, choose Parking Only and pay nothing extra.
The cheapest way to leave your car for several days
For a trip of several days, what counts is the total, not the advertised daily price. At Check-in Park the unit is the 24-hour period: 6 € per 24 hours for a car, with a 20 € minimum per booking, and a monthly rate from 20 days. You only pay when you return, and cancelling costs nothing until the vehicle enters the car park.
At the airport car parks, booking online works out cheaper than paying at the desk, and P3 and P6 are the options meant for several days.
